Girls night!

What happened here?
Melissa, Allison, Olivia, Jessica, Emmy, and Mariah
had a sleepover. Allison Olivia and Melissa painted
on each others faces, and the other three mowed the
lawn for the winter grass.
It was a long night! Jessica, Emmy, and Mariah were
up all night drawing mustaches on Melissa and Olivia.
Allison was the lucky one in the corner that they
couldn't reach. They decided to get revenge and drew
some mustaches on Jessica Emmy and Mariah. They
scrubbed and washed, but there was still a faint mark
on their tired faces.

Red Rock Country!

We had a fun family vaction to Sedona during Fall Break.
We did a lot of hiking and swimming and just relaxing.

Sedona-Day One

Day One-Monday, 10/13/08 We drove to Sedona and hung around the pool until our room was finally ready at about 5:00. We stayed at the Sedona Summit Resort from Mon. - Thurs. They had a great new pool. There was a huge jacuzzi above the pool with a waterfall flowing out of it, a large heated pool, and even a splash pad with water shooting up for the kids to play in. It was a little cold so we spent most of our time in the jacuzzi.

Sedona Day Two

Day Two-Tuesday, 10/14/08
We went on two hikes. We went on the Sedona Centennial hike which was right behind our hotel. It was less than a mile so that was a good one to start out with. Next we drove up airport road and hiked the Overlook trail which had spectacular views of Sedona from all sides. It was beautiful. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel for some swimming and a BBQ.

Sedona-Day Three

Day Three-Wednesday, 10/15/08 This was our big hiking day. We got up early and packed up our backpacks with lots of water, lunch and snacks and headed over to the West Fork of Oak Creek. Greg & I had been on this hike in 2006 when we were in Sedona for our anniversary and we really loved it and wanted to bring the kids. We weren't sure if all the kids would be able to make it the whole way because this hike was 6 miles round trip but we decided to try it. All of the kids made it to the end and back, even Jennifer. This hike takes you along the banks of Oak Creek. There are numerous places where you have to cross the creek, mostly hopping on rocks but sometimes having to walk in the water. Most of the hike is shady and cool and there are swimming holes along the way as well. We reached the end of the hike and you have to walk through the water as the canyon narrows if you want to continue. We about froze our feet off going through the water. We were so proud of the kids for making it the entire way. That night we stopped for pizza on our way back to the hotel. Later that evening we soaked our tired bodies in the jacuzzi and had hot chocolate.

Sedona-Day Four

Day Four-Thursday, 10/16/08
Today we had to check out of our hotel and check into The Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort. We packed up and went on two hikes Cibola Pass and Jordan Trail. Jordan Trail was 1.5 miles and Cibola Pass was about 1.6 miles. They both had great views of the red rocks formations. Since it still wasn't time to check into our other hotel, we went to Red Rock Crossing and had a picnic lunch. We hiked down to the creek and the kids swam and slid around on the rocks. This is a mini slide rock. The rocks are slippery and there is a swimming hole. The water was freezing though. Greg and I weren't planning on getting in but Greg slipped on the rocks and fell flat on his stomach getting himself and my camera soaking wet! Luckily the camera dried out and still works. After we hiked back to our car we went to the hotel and took the kids swimming.Posted by Picasa

Red Rock Crossing-Mini Slide Rock

This is at Red Rock Crossing. It is almost like
Slide Rock except its smaller and its less crowded

and its free! The water here was freezing. We took quite

a few slips and falls here.
